Centennial Homeowners overwhelmingly support our Affordable Housing program. But support does not mean blind faith. It goes without saying that City and County Housing funds have not always been wisely and judiciously spent. If we cannot recognize our shortcomings, there will be no path to a stronger, improved housing program in the future.
To date, Centennial Condominiums has never received a subsidy or any taxpayer money toward its construction, sales prices, or otherwise. It was built entirely with private funds at minimal cost and for a profit. As Centennial homeowners are told that the City and County cannot invest funds in current housing stock while their largest property rapidly deteriorates, we are left scratching our heads as to what affordable housing administrators constitute as wise investments.
